ABOUT  THE  ARTIST

Judith Perry was born in Barberton, Ohio in 1941 and came to California before her first birthday, settling in the Bay Area with her parents. As a child she was greatly influenced by her mother’s artistic ability to draw and her violinist father’s operatic voice. For as long as she can remember she has marveled at the beauty of California from the beautiful rugged coast to the Sierras and southern deserts.  Throughout childhood she envisioned herself becoming an artist and bringing California’s beauty to life on the canvas.

During her years of raising her family she took a number of college art classes whenever time would permit. It wasn’t until her children left the nest and she returned to California after living in Arizona and finally settling in El Dorado County that she was able to begin pursuing her lifelong dream of artistic endeavors.

She captures the beauty and mystery of California from the rugged California coastline to the Sierras and southern deserts in her beloved medium of pastels. “When I’m painting, I can feel myself in the middle of the scene just reveling in the beauty of this wonderful place we call home – California”.

She is currently studying with internationally recognized California artist, Anita Wolff and is a member of El Dorado Hills Arts Association, Placerville Arts Association and the Sierra Pastel Society.
